                                                                       One of the most important programs in the 20th century 

                                                                       math is the Langland program. Indeed, the Langlands  

                                                                       program has been pivotal to the development of many fields  

                                                                       such as number theory, representation theory and arithmetic  

                                                                       algebraic geometry. Many new instances of functoriality have 

       been proved recently, which have led to some spectacular applications. In the past few years, the  

       geometric Langlands program has been developed with many unexpected applications in algebraic  

       geometry and mathematical physics.

       To help younger mathematicians and non-experts to learn these important fields and their 

       applications, PAMQ (Pure and Applied Mathematics Quarterly) is sponsoring an international 

       conference titled:                           
       The Langlands and Geometric Langlands Program, June 18-21, 2007, in Guangzhou, China. 

       The organizing committee consists of Lizhen Ji,  Kefeng Liu, Shing-Tung Yau and Zhu-Jun Zheng.

       We would like to invite you to  participate in this conference. After the conference, we are planning 

       to organize a 3-day excursion to DunHuang Caves, the most famous sight along the Silk Road.
